Dwell?
« on: February 21, 2014, 12:01:58 PM »
Where can I get a dwell meter suitable for a 2 cylinder engine?
I want to get my points set more accurately than you can with a feeler gauge, especially when the points have wear.

As I remember on mine (my neighbour borrowed it and never gave it me back) it had a switch to select 2-4-6 cylinders on it.
It was a Gunstone one as I recall.

I need to have a word with my neighbour. :(

I think if you multiply the dwell figure you can use a 4 cylinder dwell meter instead.

My dad has a digital dwell tester that I can borrow, but it says "suitable for 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engines."
So let's say I put it in 4 cylinder mode and connect it to my Bis, do I halve the reading, or double it to get the true reading?

A dwell meter set on the 4 cylinder setting should have a reading of 39 degrees (which equates to 78 degrees for a 2 cyl)
