Yellow 1997 Polski-Fiat 126 For Sale
« on: January 20, 2014, 05:50:10 AM »
Damn.
I didn't want it to come to this but i have no choice there's no money left :(
I bought my 126 on ebay from a Polish man who swore it was in vgc he just wanted a RHD. He would have been a bargain if there was no problems but after having a mechanic check him out i could have cried! there's not much wrong except the floor. the parts are cheap but all the welding to the floor will take ages = really expensive labour costs which i can't justify right now.
I hope he goes to a mechanic or enthusiast who can do this job at home and save him from being torn apart.

It`s such a shame you have to sell it.
It seem s to be a problem with this later cars, they look very nice from the outside , but the underneath is rotten. I`ve seen it with my own eyes :-X.

I don`t think this later models received the same sort of rust protection and are apparently made of poorer quality metal. You also have to remember that winters in Poland are much tougher and there is loads of salt on the roads, so they just start rusting away from underneath.
I don`t know how much the car owes you, but if you can`t get your money back on it as it is might be worth breaking it as the running gear is worth the most.

Just under 1100 so a bit of a blow. hopefully i get a decent amount back because i have my eye on an early model also on ebay. unfortunately im unable break. i live in the city centre and cant get a parking permit without the v5 so its in my mums driveway which she's not so happy about.
of course, the salt! i hadnt thought of that.
well i am devastated but it wont be the end of my 126 journey. ive learned the hard way what to be aware of and not to dive head first into the first thing i see!!!

The poles spent Many years making heapslook Good, crashed cars from germany were repaired in the milions.
So plenty of professional bodgers. A polish MOT means nothing at all.
Sadly the car as a polish LHD car with so much welding needed is not really worth a lot. I would guess the inner wings are gone too as they did very often on the newer cars as well  >:(

The people bringing these cars over should be shot. Very often they buy a cheap 126 arrange papers and use it to drive to the UK. Then sell on Ebay on online to pay for the fuel n a bit of profit.

I really feel for you. Buy a car with a British mot.

Don't give up though t,hey are great cars.
