whoever buys it has a case to get his money back no problem. The claims are untrue , As for the guy to be old skool and 45 years of age your having a laugh. Can we have engine pics please. If there were such a car for sale I would be interested if it was genuine , This is not imho

The car is about as Italian as Lech Walesa and the Ferrari bling is not to my taste, but it looks to have been in good shape when that 2009 photo which Marc found was taken - is it just me or does it look a bit lower than standard in that picture? Otherwise, it looks to have been a standard base model (same vintage as eg my car and Lina's car, which both have chrome bumpers, vinyl seats etc. - and of course are Polish built), other than the hub caps which are from a later air-cooled (anorak alert...).

It's a shame that neither the seller nor our recently joined member who has apparently seen and driven the car seem able to shed any light on the advertised mechanical modifications or the chassis number. I wonder why?

Anyway, no doubt it will be back on eBay again soon and the fun can start all over again...

Can't quite read the full VIN number but the plate is otherwise the same as mine.  Engine looks clean but standard head/carb etc.

How comes the car sells then is up for sale again?

I cant spot anything '650CC WITH ENGINE UPGRADE'. unless he means the new exhaust brackets and fuel filter showing in the picture.

I must say I am really disappointed by the engine bay picture. The car really did look clean, that has never been in question, but the engine bay for a £3000 Fiat 126 looks very tired. Heat shield is missing and signs of rust. It would have only taken a morning of cleaning to get the engine bay looking pristine.

As for the VIN, sadly can't read the vin plate (£5 on Ebay). Something still seems a little strange with the year, I still say the car is Polish.

I agree that the car must be Polish.  It's far too late to be an Italian build.

There seems to be some confusion about VIN codes - the ZFA code doesn't mean that the car was built in Italy, it's just the code allocated to Fiat generally.  I've got a copy of a FIAT advisory note issued in 1981 which confirms this, will try to work out how to post it up.

My car is definitely a Polish build but has a ZFA code (stamped onto the shell on the driver's side of the boot floor as well as on the VIN plate).  The VIN plate and colour code sticker are in Italian but that doesn't mean it was built in Italy...

 I think it says Made in Poland on the VIN plate of that 126 as the Italian ones look different.

My car is also Italian according to the VIN, I think that they were probably shipped through Italy and given the ZFA vin for tax purposes. Not being found by the VIN checker isn't really proof of anything.

Check Ebay 1st, or take the old starter motor into a local auto electrician for reconditioning, If money isn't an issue Ricambio in the topsite menu on the home Page
