I am following the starting problems of your car. It's great to drive one of these cars, especially in Italy!!

nice job,  any idea on the gearing,as the Aygo used 14 inch wheels so i imagine that you will have excellent accelaration but not much top end  i think im right in saying that the biggest tyre to fit under a standard rear arch is a 155/70r13. what about gearbox oil level ? you may need to over fill to make sure the gears dont run dry
im currently looking into the vauxhall/opel corsa 973cc 3 cylinder engine fitted in the older corsa's because they ran on 13 " wheels so gearing should be reasonable and whole cars can be purchased for about £300/400. im just waiting for a reasonable mot failure corsa in my general area

Thanks Ronb. Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought because the Toyota runs on lower tyres the difference is relatively small (see tabel).

Indeed the oil level in the gearbox is something I am not very convinced about... But because there are all rotating gears, oil willl be tossed around anyway. I will probably stay very focussed on grinding noise that might appear.

I didn't know Corsas were fitted with 3 cilinder engines these days. Sounds like a sensible option. I'll be keeping an eye on your posts!!

This week I recieved some parts to continue with the drive shafts. I also ordered a chrome rear bumper  It might be a bit early for this but I would like to see if I can make a nice exhaust outlet under the bumper.

Are those the modiffied C.V joints to replace the rubber type ?

Yes correct! I think they are probably the weakest link in the driveline. Besides, I need them to compensate for the extra angle in de shafts.

I have been fiddling with the gear linkage I want to use the aygo gearstick mechanism (which is a brilliant but simple working piece of engineering  ) which in real live the aygo is turned front to back. On the gearbox itselfs are two levers that need to be operated. The photos show the mock-up of the sollution I came up with... If I did my homework correctly the gearshift pattern is as it should be.
