1974 Fiat 126 'Tetto Aprible' Restoration

Car is now booked in for it's full re-spray. It's going into Full Circle Classics at Marden on 4th August for their 'Ferrari Finish'.

It should come back to me finished by 18th August and then I can start rebuilding it. )

I have a small list of bits I will be looking for which I shall post shortly.

Progress will be slowish until it's sprayed but everything is being thoroughly cleaned, reconditioned and stored ready to be put back on the car.



I had to acquire a new dash cover, as mine had a hole in it and it just wouldn't look right on the finished car. Got this spare from a forum member and today have given it a good clean and shine ) after all that's what the kitchen worktop is for!

Car finally stripped down to the bare shell. Going off shortly, trailer booked, hired help booked.

Absolute nightmare taking all of the internals out of the doors! Won't be easy rebuilding them.



Also found some more little rust holes which will need welding.



Just gotta drill the holes in the doors this evening for the mirrors!

In the absence of much else to do, lots of stripping and cleaning of bits still. New fuel sender and gasket fitted to new tank.

Speedo stripped down and cleaned. Perspex face replaced with new glass for shiny new look. Just debating whether to drill the clock back to 0 miles as the car will be practically brand new when finished. /

Replacement dash panel cleaned and shined. Previous owner had put a naff rev counter in and ruined the dash in the process. New holes drilled for extra push buttons. One will be for electric start, and the other for a nice loud air horn! )

During my rebuild I took the doors off and laid them flat, much easier to refit the internal bits and pieces. Obviously newly painted doors need to be laid on something soft to protect the new paint.

Well, off he went this morning to the bodyshop! Hopefully some more update pics next week! )
