BIS wheel upgrade.
« on: July 05, 2012, 06:41:04 PM »
Hi Im  new to the forum and currently I am restoring a 1967 Fiat 500 air cooled and a g regd water cooled 126 fsm BIS.
I have chance of a set of 165/70R13 wheels and tyres off a Skoda Fabia pick up which was upgraded to alloy wheels and left the almost new steel ones spare.
Does anyone know if these wheels will fit the BIS ok?

The hole spacing appears to be the same although he centre hole is slightly smaller but could be opened out I guess. The wheels were made in the czech republic.
And if suitable would mean instant wide wheels at little cost.

Any ideas anyone, have you fitted similar etc?

Cheers in anticipation.

Hi G Ludd & welcome to the forum , you have landed in the right place  :)
I have a 500L and an '81 126. I run 155/65-13 tyres on the 126 with no problem but I think that you might be pushing your luck with that tyre size but the rims should fit  :good:

:welcome To the forum, You will be struggling with 165x70x13's I originally had 165x60x13's on my Bis but bought 165x55x13's because the 60 series tires were catching on full lock.

Thanks guys for your advice re the wheels, from what you say sounds like with a bit of tyre size shuffling I can get them to fit.Much appreciated.

On a different note I have just received a message from a friend who has contact with the organisers of the Wakefield historic vehicle and car event in Thornes Park Wakefield tomorrow night (Friday) that it has been postponed until a later date to be announced. It seems that the area to have been used is already waterlogged.
