On Pistonheads Classifieds - Zoom Zoom
« on: November 10, 2011, 05:34:24 PM »
Think tha price might be a touch high....

Not sure I like the sound of suspension, and especially brakes all being original either, zoom zoom straight into the first tree you come accross.

All you need is a few spare chains and it is ready to go (a few miles then change the chain again).

At least it looks original.

PistonHeads not a site I have looked at too often but I see the mission statement under the title seems to tell all "Speed Matters"  :o Obviously Safety does not  :$
I love the idea of the "wolf in sheeps clothing" when it is done well but it has to be the whole package and if the asking price represents the cost of the conversion then I guess the money ran out. Standard wheels, tyres , brakes etc  ::)
The description starts well "Fiat 126 Classic Car" then it reads like an estate agent teamed up with a well known guy from Top Gear to write the ad and if you whispered BMW M3 into their ears they would come out in a bad rash or develope a nervous tick  :P
GSXR in Aus fitted a 1300 Heyabusa to a 126 and on his test run the standard brake drums exploded when he went to slow down but it was on an unused road and the car is for drag racing.
Ooow
just
noticed
the car is in Berks , just down the road from me  :D
Wonder if I can get a test drive  ;)

Changed your undies yet Rusty :D
Yes the bus project has been relegated to the track only due to an ahole of an engineer that wont give me certification for rego. At the moment it sits fully pulled apart ready for paint.

The 1000cc project is coming along and it will be registered for the road.
Here's some costs: stat w/off 2010 Suzuki GSXR 1000 bought at the auctions - $3210, FSM Niki - $0 but i guess the one in the add would be worth a bit, Fabrication materials - $575 so far, BMW bits $227, my time - $0, but i suppose if you got it all done professionally at say $50 per hour for 100-150 hrs thats $5k to $7.5k so the price is looking about right - you probably couldnt get it done cheaper.

Yep them brakes will get you in trouble and aint it funny how Jerome mentions nothing of the M3 driver giving you cpr as he's the first one on the scene after you've flipped, rolled 7 times, destroyed your car completely, killed a few fence posts, cows, trees etc...

Dajwid, the chain seems to be fine on mine, its all solid mounted so I think it doesnt wear as much as it would on a bike.

:D Not changed my pants yet but may have to later this morning after my 126 has gone through the MOT test  ::)
Good to hear from you GSXR , you have been fairly quiet for a while. I got mixed up there about the engine you used, I can't remember who did the 1300 Heyabusa job .

Havent posted much lately, but been reading about your electrical gremlin adventures. Hope your setup passes. Its bloody work mate - been doing 63 hours a week and that leaves for sweet f a. That will be all over soon and "hope" to devote a bit more time to the projects :$

I do have both a 1300 and a 1000 project. The 1000 is being built to satisfy the engineer so I can drive it on the road. He wont approve the extra 300cc :-

The trans is usually a bike unit - i think the fzr has a wet clutch setup (not sure) like my suzuki so the drive sprocket powers the chain as per normal bike setup and this is usually connected to a "flipped" diff. I used a BMW E30 irs lsd diff with a 3.45 ratio and ran the chain at 1:1 andit sort of gives the same rev range as the bike would. Sorry dont have pics of it yet.
