Fiat 126 for sale
« on: September 13, 2011, 04:29:16 PM »
The car was made in 1986, it has 11749 miles on clock, 1 previous owner, it was on the road last in 1995. We bought the car in February 2011, did loads of thing on it as you can see on the pictures. It drives good, the only reason why I'm thinking of selling it because we have another one which was made in 1978 so we have more of them :)

https://picasaweb.google.com/110728778109568745163/Fiat1262

It has passed the mot without advisory so it has 1 year MOT on it and 6 months tax.
New exhaust, brakes and tyres, bucket seats, sport steering wheel and it's going to have a JVC cd player with mounted speakers on the back once my husband fits them. I'm asking a bit high price for it as I like this car and I'm not sure I would like to sell it. But if someone is enthusiastic enough and willing to pay the price I would sell it. I think it will worth a lot once as most of them has far more than just 1 or 2 previous owners.

I hope you can view the pics, I can take more, I just wanted to know if people are paying attention here or no.

Have a good day!

Price?   ???

Any suggestions? Not sure which is a sensible price. I'm not in a hurry to sell as I'm still hesitating to keep or let it go.

Difficult one to price. Do you still have the original front seats? Your 1978 one will probably be worth more.

No, we used the rails for the bucket seats. The bodywork is excellent on this one, the other one needs welding. As I was born in 79 we would like to keep the older one. And on that one we would like to keep everything original. She is still from Italy.  Maybe mine will stay as well. Most of the things are new on this one like tyres (from Hungary), brakes, gaskets on the engine, brake pipes and caliper (I think that's how it's called), the indicators and rear lights. Eveything is sorted on it for 6 months so she can stay if nobody interested. :)

I doubt nobody's interested ;)

But I know personally I wouldn't want to waste your time making an offer if I can only afford £xxx and you want £x,xxx before you'll even consider letting it go ;)

I considered it otherwise I wouldn't start the topic, but I can wait till a serious buyer is coming along. The reason why I'm not writing a price is that I don't know what is the highest I can get with features like this. So feel free to send me a message nobody is wasting my time, I'm a mum at home with a baby at the mo :)

so if everyone got together and said the highest price is £500 youd sell it for that.... or did you have an actual figure in your head i.e. would £500 offend you and would you think £1000 is closer to what you think is fair?

im not making an offer but im sure you have a rough figure in your head. people on an enthusiasts site usually dont try sell for 'the highest they can get', thats what ebay is for, like many other model-specific forum the people on here are usually prepared to sell at fair prices if its moving on to a home who would look after it.

my 2p. good luck with the sale.

Thanks for telling me off, I think you are right about what you just said. I bought it for £550 and it was a complete wreck. I'm thinking of over a £1,000 figure. As it had just 1 previous owner and less than 12000 miles in it I hope I can get it. (or if it's just a dream I will wait and wait and use it, they are just brilliant in the wintertime). I think you are right about here people are not trying to rip the others off, so I'll possibly go and put it on a free homepage, I'm not sure I'd like to fill ebay's pocket if I can avoid that (we sold cars there before and they just charged too much).

Hi Ildiko , the price you paid for the car is not relevent . What does matter is the model and condition of the car. I agree with mic that vehicles sold within clubs do tend to sell at more reasonable prices as opposed to crazy prices that some speculators will try. The thing is that "reasonable" is a variable especialy as the 126 has now firmly moved into the classic car market. In right hand drive models they are much rarer than the higher priced Fiat 500s. There will always be "bargain" cars out there and a few will be genuine but many of the LHD imports have MOTs where the car has not even been to the garage to be checked. So I would value an average , on the road RHD aircooled 126 at £800 to £1.500 then upward from there for special models , low mileage , rust free , etc , etc.
Top end seems to be about £5,000 for an exceptional car and I think there are a few Bis owners out there that would tell you where to go if you only offered them £2,500 for their cars

Thanks for telling me off

sorry i didnt mean to come across rude, its your car so do as you wish  ;D

you just need to weigh up exactly HOW important it is to sell it on. yes ebay fees are getting silly but its the most popular place people look for a car and id rather pay ebay £50 if i could sell it for £1000 rather than pay no fees but only sell the car for £800.

afterall, money makes the world go around

Good luck with the sale!!

I think personally if you put the orignal steering wheel on and put the original seats in you would get a better price for your car.

Is selling a car with a single owner a selling point? I could understand if you had a mint condition showroom model with extremely low mileage that someone wanted for a museum piece looking for that, I've brought convertibles with 7-8 owners because people buy in summer sell in the winter, I buy them for a price there worth and sell it the same I would t pay any less...

Are your now the second owner?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, maybe she will stay for the winter and try to sell it next year, I'm still not sure what to do, I don't think Barna will do the other one up by wintertime and that one is on sorn at the moment anyway. And I do need a fiat 126 for the winter as I'm not that confident driving the civic in the snow.

This one is rust free now completely, we still need to fit the cd player, the speakers, paint around the windows and have a sticker on the top what I already bought but it needs time and nice weather to be fitted. :)

I put it on the internet for £1550 or nearest offer.

Have a nice weekend everyone, it's almost here :)
