Hi from new member in Suffolk UK
« on: December 20, 2010, 06:44:49 AM »
Hi all, my name is Steve and I hail from Nth Suffolk in England. Me and a mad mate have just won this little diamond in the rough on a well known auction site. I intend to collect her either tues or weds this week. Can I have some pointers on main weaknesses of this model? Had a BIS a couple of years back as an ongoing project but never completed her to a good standard, looking forward to some Fiat fun :)

I saw this one for sale, fair price, if, now the IF. The rust is not too bad.

Check Sills, especially the front (see your pictures). bottom of windscreen off side, bottom of rear window frame. Spare wheel well (see your pictures) bottoms of doors.
It is all fixable, panels are not too expensive.

Headlights are prone to rusting on the inside, RHD ones are hard to find, but LHD can be used if your change the lenses over, very carefully.

Engines are simple, no major hassles on an aircooled,

Sorry, I am not trying to seem negative. Great cars, fun to drive. Very easy to fix when things go wrong.

Welcome to the site, All the info you need is certainly here.

And it all seems good, spare wheel well is pretty grotty, no probs with windscreen surround, rear window or headlights and she runs an absolute treat! Been off road since 1993

Welcome. The guys on here have been great and have very good knowledge of the little fiat.

I own a 1980 - aircooled and a 1991 - watercooled and am based in mistley on the essex/suffolk border.  I do think a little south east meet would be great as the main shows all seem to be further north!!

Happy new 126 year
