1988 BIS for sale - v v original

For sale is my 1988 126 BIS.  Very very original.  Was owned by a lady from new and then someone for five minutes before me.  Original everything, including number plates, tax disc holder, radio, wheel trims, etc.  6696 miles from new with MOTs and service history to support.  Six months MOT and tax remaining and just had new oil and new spark plugs.  Starts first time and runs extremely well.  Only selling through lack of use which is sad as my children absolutely love "the BIS".  Based near East Grinstead and would like £1,650 please.

Is the paint original and has she ever been welded?

Paint seems to be original.  No rust or welding and this car has always been garaged!  Sussex is a long way from mid Wales, though...

There has been a lot of threads with regards to selling prices on RHD aircooled and Bis versions. We were all of the view (at least for those who participated) that prices are on the rise and in some cases to well in excess of £1,500. some case well over £2k! One just sold to just under £3K recently to a forum member. The prices do vary quite a bit. These babies are getting rarer by the day, judging from the numbers being srapped and a good number being sold for spares.

The £3000 car was an aircooled with a huge amount of money spend on engine mods. Standard Bis cars have always been slightly less desirable (not wanting to start another war).

Lots of 126s on Ebay, most not reaching the reserve recently, Polish 126s struggling to reach more that £700 for aircooled.

A great Bis has been on sale for a couple of months, lots of very nice Mods and still can't make £350.

I agree that top notch 126s Bis or AC will make over a grand, £1500 maybe. But often many see a 126 has sold for such a price and think they are all worth that money.

I am not knocking this car at all, in fact looks very good. i don't know the car at all.

I am just commenting on general 126 prices.

Personally I'd be more than happy to pay this kind of money for that kind of car. It's not the size of the car that matters, but the sentiment. Less than 7000 miles in original condition proves to me that whoever had it, cherished it to bits and took great car to keep it original. It's the kind of car i would buy as i love stock cars that haven't been played with!

It was a similar story with 126 BIS, always garaged, 15000 miles from new etc. I'm sure 20 years ago people were struggling to get £2000 for an original 500, now look at the prices of those!

I felt exactly the same way when I bought mine and I am sure others have like Steve who bought a lovely white immaculate 126 Bis. Mine had just 13K miles, Fiat service history first 6 stamps, and Fiat specialist afterwards, oil change every year regardless of use, waxoiled, undersealed, original tool kit, and original everthing through and through. It was garaged as well and had no rust. In the end I did not mind paying top dollar for the car, which to some make no economic sense. There are definitely buyers out there for mint 126's. You just have to be patient.

And this was my sentiment entirely when I bought the BIS.  It is simply lack of use (and lack of foreseeable use) that has caused me to offer her up for sale.  I am sure when the right buyer comes along and has a look, they will be pleased by what they see.  Fiat main dealer annual service stamps, all docs, etc.
