New kid on the block...
« on: June 22, 2010, 10:40:22 PM »
Hello everyone..

Joined earlier this afternoon..

I don't have a 126 at the moment (currently running an 02 plate Seicento Schumacher: My second Sei)..

Back in the early-late 80s I had plenty of hands on stuff with 126s though: Was a Vauxhall mechanic 83-98..

I'm on the look out for a 126, but, it's one car on a 'hit' list of other projects I intend complete over the next few years..

These include:

Yugo (any model)
Skoda Favorit
Lada Samara

I almost bought a 127 last year and a couple of weeks ago had a look at a Yugo, but that didn't go as planned..

So I'm in the market for one of the above, and at the moment it's between the 126 and the Yugo (comments??)..

Also, I would like to make a contribution to the running of the club (seems only fair)..

I assume this will be by Paypal??

Where and who to?

Any guide as to what's a fair amount?

I'll be hanging around here, picking up tips, etc..

Thanks for listening.. [-/

Cheers

K

Welcome to the club.
Plenty of chat for non 126 owners as well.
When I was growing up we had a lada samara. I can honestly say it was the worst car we ever owned!
Although the engine was sound, the internal bodywork wasn't too keen on staying attached. Mind you, they must be rare as hens teeth these days!!

Haven't ever worked on a yugo, but 126's are easy for sourcing parts, but yugos don't rust! I guess it depends whether you prefer bodywork or engine work.

Welcome

Three months since I joined and still no 126..!

To be honest I have been a bit preoccupied with work and the dreaded school holidays...

I even allowed myself to be distracted for a while and occasionally looked at other makes of car!

But that's all in the past and I'm back in the hunt for my 126..

Still looking for a long term, any condition project..

Quite like the idea of building a Group 2 Rally Car rep..

There's a G reg, blue BIS on ebay quite close to me, so will keep an eye on that...

Glad to be back....

If you are looking at tuning, better off with aircooled, no ready to fit tuning for the Bis.

Oddly I have a soft spot for Yugos too....

Which one did you see? they are rare here, but I have contacts in mainland Europe if you want one.

But don't let that stop from getting a 126!

The Yugo was in a local breakers..

Complete car, 45 Tempo, pretty rotten but all there and saveable..

However, there was a notification of destruction on it so they wouldn't sell me the whole car..

What made this car special was that it was on an M plate, so could have been one of the last ever Yugos registered in the UK..

Thanks for the offer but I know of about four other Yugos for sale!!

All about 450 miles away...

I've made my mind up on a 126 and believe it or not have found another blue BIS, very local, so notes on windscreen time!!

I was kind of aware of the tuning issue (air cooled), so, is it possible to buy a BIS and install an air-cooled engine, taking into account the cooling modifications, etc?

Cheers
