interestingly some clever guys there have taken the breater from top and bottom, up into a catch tank, with a drain back onto the engine, I guess a simple non return valve on the drain would work nicely.
Note the supercharged 500 and also note the toothed altenator drive belt, bigget pulley (looks like 1 to 1), must be that with lightened cranks etc the higher idle rpm means no need to run the fan as hard with the oil cooler picking-up and helping. [-/

I like the idea of a breather off the crankcase, but not so sure about just hollowing-out the fuel pump as seen in some picts, think a descent plate with a nice ally elbow welded-on would be tidier and less likely to leak.

I can't get over how many variations of tuned 500's exist. I definitely prefer the ones that have modified the original/126 air-cooled engines than the swaps though. There even appears to be a couple of pics of a 500 with the extremely rare twin cam head conversion. That would be something special indeed!

Pretty much everyone of those has at least one oil catch tank fitted. Perhaps I should really think about having one, as I'm still currently just running with the hole in the side of the valve cover blowing

Yeah oil catch tank does seem to be the way to go  I've been putting it off for a while but every time I go over 65 the engine gets covered in oil. Not so bad in winter
I'm going to do a Rusty and build some with a drain set-up with non-return I want it out of aluminium, shaped to fit in the back corner of the engine bay with a sight hose etc.

I think that twin cam one is actually some kind of supercharger, I've seen a single overhead cam conversion and want to work on one soon.

I've always thought, yes it's an expensive game but if a 600 V twin bike can make big horse power, why can't we? Looks right without half the back cut-out with radiators etc etc [-/
