Hey Up,
« on: November 14, 2009, 09:42:56 PM »
Hello my names luke,
Let me tell you a little bit about myself, I'm 22, just got married and work as an electrical fitter at a powerstation. I have a love of all things odd ball, My first car was a Suzuki SJ 4x4 1.3l which was a fun car if not too practicle (at 18mpg and a top speed of 50mph  :o) I also have several motorcycles, these include a 1969 puch ms50d moped which I restored, a 1975 honda pf50 novio moped and a 80cc yamaha townmate (which is like a honda 90 but with a shaft drive). I get a buzz out of small engines and when I bought my suzuki SJ i was disappointed I couldn't get the 1litre version!
As things have progressed I had to get a sensible car, so Im stuck with a boring 53plate astra which does the 26mile commute to work,
My affair with the infamous Fiat 126 started when my grandfather used to take me and my cousin out in his, it was a blue BIS and he used to remove the front passanger seat so he could fit his model locomotive in, me and my cousin used to have a blast in the back trying to drink lemonade whilst we were travelling and inveriably spilling it every where! a few of my fondest Fiat memorys include the time we took the scenic route to the 'field' where my grandad used to run his loco, and we ended up going up this hill, as we had had no run up the speed got slower and solwer, accompanied with the engine sounding more and more strained, In the end he had to select first gear and we trundled up the hill at walking pace with me and my 'cuz in the back seat smiling and waving at the backed up traffic!
Another of my memorys involved me and my grandad having to walk to a strangers house when the engine died in the middle of the country side, we had to beg an empty milk carton of water to fill the radiator.
those were the good old days,  I don't know what happend to that BIS of my grandads (I fear the worst) but I can remeber being sad when it was replaced with a Volvo, although The volvo grew on me and I was sad to see that leave for the crusher. I know that the blue BIS was his second fiat 126, His first 126 being a cream colored air cooled, he used to drive my mother & my aunty around in that,

So really I've had a bit of history, but through all that I have never owned one, and as much as I'd love to own one Ive not got the space or the time to dedicate to the hobby, which is a shame, I did see a cream 126 on Scrooby street in greasborough and I was tempted to ask the owner if he wanted to sell but the time has never been right, maybe when I'm older eh?

thank you for listening

That would be great, I live in bramley by the m18's junction 1. Like I said I've always had a thing for 126's I did look at one for my first car, but in the end decided againts it as 'impracticle'
