Mine caught fire, when I was it it, I wasn't amused.

Was driving down the motorway a few weeks ago when the car's engine started to what seemed to be misfiring, then the stereo stopped which I thought was odd, then I notced that smoke was flying out of the back of the car

When I pulled over the car was dead, looks like the wiring loom went up but luckily when I stopped the flat battery from the short circuit meant no current and the fire stopped.

It's in a FIAT dealer at the moment, nearest place the RAC would take me too, taking it to a spark later in the week to see if it can be saved.

Luckily there wasn't much damage, some smoke in the engine bay and some melted cables.  An autospark patched it up for me and it's back on the road.

I'm looking in my mirror a bit more often now ;)

my deville nearly caught fire once, but where i was i had access to a fire extingusher; somehow i managed to get a short down the starter cable which turned red hot melted and then caught fire. It took me a while to get a new cable but it was not to much of a probelm as the car was easier to bump start than a motorbike, more often than not started within its own length.
