clear rear lights and other tuning stuff
« on: February 25, 2009, 09:16:34 PM »
Hi,

I currently have a punto engined cinquecento (not the classic one!) and i am seriously considering getting a 126.  I would love to get an aircooled but they are hard to find and expensive in relation to the bis, so it looks like its gonna be a bis!

My question is where can i get the clear rear lights from that i have seen a few bis's wearing and are there any basic tuning stuff for them, lower springs, and such like, just to do abit of mild tuning to it!

Any other info would be great.

thanks

Clear lensesfrom Poland, but look a bit 90s now. Lowering is not too hard, alloys, Aluminium sumps, rocker covers, bigger engines, Nitros, V8s squeezed in. All just depends on how deep your pockets are. And if you buy an Aircooled or a Bis. Most Engine tuning bits are about for the Aircooled.
main thing if yyou are after any 127 is rust, if its rotten walk away, ' Make a nice project' ;D

Most panels are available but again it all starts getting expensive.
Good luck.

i had clear rears on my first car, a mk1 fiesta and yes they are 90's but i still love them,

anyone got a link for them?

i think i will end up with a bis so it looks like theres not alot for them?

can lowering springs for the aircooled be fitted to a bis?

thanks

Check out the reputable companies section of the forum for all of your tuning needs but be prepared to spend a bit!

Just a cautionary tale, most of the items sold on "allegro" require you to pay for them by Bank transfer or Moneybookers, and do not have a Paypal account. if you happen to have a polish bank account then its not a problem. It can be very expensive to transfer money from your English bank account I fell into this trap a while ago and was charged 28 Quid to transfer the money :o which means that you may be able to buy the parts cheaper than from Germany but its not that cheap when you have to do a bank transfer, go to your bank to fill in the forms to pay for your Items Beware ;)

Very true, Luckily I have a polish account [-/ Very often they will really load the postage too,

although Ebayers in the UK try it on. £20 postage on a pair of lights at the moment :o

I recently bought return tickets to Poland for a tenner, £5 each way including airport tax, Good old Ryanair for that price a pound for the loo is still cheap.

£5-£10 for a flight from Stansted to Gdansk, a decent 126 in Poland about £500 then about £40 in petrol and a very tiring 20 hour drive back.

How decent would the 126 be for £500?, what age etc? is it best to find one before going out there?

the tiring drive might be fun as a one off!, stop off at afew places on the way home,

thanks for the info!

Dude I've done the drive basicly to Poland and back in a Marea and it was difficult. That was in relative comfort and over 160bhp to help on the motorways but  It was a doddle compared to driving the 126 from Bristol to Fife.

I reckon it would require balls of steel to take a drive like that on in a 126 and a complete loss of sanity to enjoy it.

So far I'ne done it in a Merc C, a Vw camper twice in a Frontera and in an old peugoet diesel, The best drive was in the camper not due to the space but it was just a plod, 50Mph flat out, I stopped a lot and had a break slept overnight in a motel. Not too bad at all, I didn't overtake a thing all the way  :-

Not the best way to travel but......

At the moment £1 = 5.20 PLN

So £500 = 2600PLN

Could buy:

Most are about 1000 - 1500 PLN so £300 buys a tidy 126
A few Happy end have popped up for about £500 recently

This is nice

Only done 998 Kms from new but Very expensive.

Have a look on Allegro.pl

Searching done for you  :), plenty of choice.
