Dave you have read my mind!!! i have been asking everywhere for a custom twin tailed, not many companies bother to get back to me. i would be greatful if you could ask this bloke, you sure it was a custom bis exhaust? and not just like the pic below?

funny enough i have been showing this to companys as an example of what i would like!!!

do you think a single tail pipe is nice or twin tailed?

Cheers Dave!

Who needs and exhaust tbh :D open pipes are the way forward :D

Just get a plane single pipe bout 1.75" diameter. If you relly need a silencer then get something like a cherry bomb and run it along the back of the car (like people do on beetles and other rear engined stuff) The type of exhaust you posted a pic of are just gary boy tat. There a very bad design performance wise and dont exactly look nice either imo! (best left on corsa's  )

My brother and my Dad are going to a place in basildon next friday that, make the exhaust while you wait. All stanless steel and, to what ever you want. Drive in and drive out.

?250 for my brothers BMW coupe thing.
?180 for a straight through one, for my Dads Chevy V8 dayvan

Well this isnt what i was describing exactly but its a better design (not perfect tho!)

nice site too

Problem with rear engines is you just dont have space for the perfect exhaust.

hi slater, nice exhaust, why is that better than the one i showed you? because its stainless steel? is that a custom one? it looks superb! Thats actually off a 126 or 500 that exhaust? looks like it.

Slater, how much BHP will a sports exhaust add? does your dad still tune? i seem to remember you saying he has a business.

John is that basildon in essex? thats cheap, but what sort of exhaust is it? is it a performance type i.e. will it add BHP?

Its complicated to explain fully but the main reason its better is the pipes from the engine go into the end of the silencer like on a normal exhaust. On the G-boy one above the pipes go into the side of the silencer and this can lead to the exhaust gasses 'reflecting' off the other side of the silencer and boucing back tryibng to get back into the engine! This greatly increses back pressure which is the main thing your looking to avoid with an exhaust.

You should look to get as few bends as possible in it (athough this is hard with the compact 126) The bends should be of a large radius

The tube diameter shoulent be too big 1-1/4" is fine for the pipes from the engine before they join together.

The 2 pipes from the engine should be the same length (also hard with the 126) And this length can be found by some fancy maths.

I couldent tell you exactly how it would affect the engines power but id say it would be a noticble improvement :)

to make a performance exhaust work you need to make engine improvements such as reporting the heads, upjetting carbs etc, IMHO they are a waste of money on any standard engine. You may get the engine to rev harder thus supposedly increasing some performance but you will lose low down torque. also you lose that characteristic chuff chuff that 126s make which is a shame as thats their character. btw, back pressure isnt bad, you need a certain amount to get decent running!

Cheers slater, the bit that makes mosts sense to me is the silencer where you described if the pipes go into the side of the silenecr the gasses bounce back. It does makes sense to me now.

Barry, i know thats one thing i would miss is the sound of a 126, do the BIS's sound much different to the aircooled? i seem to think the aircooled sound, sounds better. If i did get a custom exhaust i would keep the orginal of course, and swap them accordingly.

Thanks

you need to ask yourself this, do you want your 126 to go faster and peform way above your expectations? If so, a performance exhaust wont do that for you... if you want your car to be louder and thus feel faster and have a custom look to it then buy one, peronally I would rather spend the cash on visual stuff as no 126 is ever gonna fly with a real engine in it!

I love the sound of a sports exhaust, but generaly dont like the appearance of them! i like chrome and stainless steel. Im happy with the speed of my BIS, to be honest i should be spending more time fixing the more important things, than worrying about a custom exhaust, i.e. my warped door which is rubbiing and the petrol in the oil.

Barry did you ever find any of those rubber headlight surrounds like what Roman has?
