My new bundle of joy, (not a baby, a 126)
« on: May 05, 2008, 12:55:55 PM »
Hi,  I've introduced myself before but I thought I'd now introduce my new 126.

It's a 1978 Polish 650cc air cooled. It's got a few rust spots but basically sound.

It's been owned by the same family from new (I've even got the original receipt, although I can't read it because it's in Polish).

Most of the parts are original including the steering wheel which is very cracked and has a thermometer in the horn push & the tyres which are 30 years old now & definitely need replacing.

My my, that is a nice classic 126. With some work and a lot of love put into it, it could end up looking great! You even got the old style rims, wery rare, wery nice :)

Oh, could you please scan the receipt for the car, im really interested in what it looks like. Croatian and polish are somewhat simmilar and i even might understand something ;)

Oh, and hello, welcome.

Hi Gordon,

Here is the scan of the receipt, as you can see it's in far worse condition than the car.

I also got this booklet with the car.

I'm guessing it was the warranty/ service book.

By the way if anyone is interested the same couple that I bought the car from also have another 1978 126 for sale for the same price. Just click the link below.

http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php?carno=32875

I'll also post this link on the cars for sale section.

Nice car!
What will you do about it being left hand drive?

Rachunek is reciept, or bill, and the bottom one, gwarancyjna,  is the guarantee, so you're right, the warranty.

One more thing : how much was it to get it sent over? And how did you go about it?

Reciept

Top left is the garage address stamp

Rachunek nr is reciept number

Odbiorca i jego adres  : Name and his address

Dowod osobisty: ID card number (owners)

Fiat 126 Bla bla bla you can understand that :-)

Price 74.000 Zloty (not really possable to work out price as money has changed since that time)

Nr silnika = engine number
Nr Podwoza is the VIN number

Moc silnika : Engine power KM = BHP

stan licznika = Milage 34 Km blimey someone had been joyriding :-)

Then it is signed to say that there is no damage.

Any more Polish questions PM me

I bought it from a Polish couple living in the UK. They had hired a trailer and taken a car from the UK back the girls Father in Poland. To recoup the trailer hire money, rather than bringing the trailer back empty, they brought the 126 back with them to sell here.
