Fiat 126 BIS
« on: October 13, 2007, 05:58:41 PM »
Hi all,
I have put my lovely BIS up for on EBAY Item 230181236633, I want to buy an older aircooled, for me beleive it  or not I love all the process of restoring them, putting things together, etc.
The car is in mint condition and I am not going to let it go cheap, I have spend a lot of money and uncounted spare time on her, there is a reserve price.
Thanks
Jorge

Hi,
I did not sold my car and actually I am rather happy and relived, i am going to keep her and if I find a space I will probably would get a aircooled.
Some people seems to want good cars for little money.
Thanks
Jorge

hi Jorge

I am afraid what you paid to restore it or bring it up to its current standard is irrelevant to prospective buyers, and this goes for most cars you simply cannot expect to get back what you put in unless you are very fortunate.  I must say i was watching your car and was very happy to see that people were in fact prepared to spend over a grand on a BIS in prime condition.  you must understand that other than for fun collectable or quirkyness theres not really a place for the BIS as for a £1500 i can get say an S reg toyota corolla which has a 1.6 effiecent engine airbags everywhere and doesnt ever break and goes well on all roads including long motorway journeys, so until the BIS is alot older I think they will be for hard and fast enthusiasts only and will have nominal values.

Cheers Doug

Mr Meuton,
Thanks for your message but for me everything as a value , what upsets me is people wanting good for paying nothing.
As you mencioned if I wanted a reliable car I wouldn`t buy a BIS but the ones who like these little cars or any other knows that bringing a car up to a good standart like this one costs money and I wouldn`t have any car or something else unless it looks nice and clean, otherwise it will be junk and I don`t like junk.
I must tell you that I had an offer some months ago of £2000.00 and did not accepted, silly me.
I have seen some cars in a very bad state and if the owners want to do it they will spend a lot of money but as I said probably there are people who like to buy things and keep them as they are but it is not my case , i do appreciate to look at a nice clean car.
I have made this offer and I am going to do it again, IF ANYONE COMES TO MY HOME WITH A BIS LOOKING GOOD AND SAME CONDITION AS MINE I WOULD GIVE MY CAR FOR FREE. YOU CAN COME WITH A FRIEND AND WILL BE DRIVING BACK HOME WTH TWO CARS INSTEAD OF ONE.
PS I would never ever would by a Toyota Corolla, not even for free.
thanks
Jorge

hi Jorge

first rule of classic cars and this came from a very well known specialsit car dealer and he said if anyone offers to buy your car sell it!   it makes sense because they will give you top book price probably if you push them a bit more.

If someone had offered me £2000 for a BIS such as yours then you could have set a new record for second hand prices of them and thus helped the values creep up.  However I saw a better one than yours sell on ebay of all places 8 months ago and it was red and 1500 miles on the clock and had been dry stored all its life one owner car etc etc  and was better than new i think in terms of how it had been kept and it only made £850, as i say when you get into £2000 territory you can get alot of other car for the money. although i do feel your best placed to being in london to get the highest possible price for the little cars if you can inded find the right buyer as you mentioned.

but certainly up here in scotland even once all my new panels are on my car, there is no real value in it sadly other than to me, even so i bills for parts alone in excess of £1600 and thats without painting it yet but its not about that, clkassic cars are about enjoyment and i hope if you keep it you contiune to enjoy it to the full.

cheers Doug

Hi again,
I don`t think you could say you have seen a better one on ebay, I look at ebay all the time and items don`t seen to be as good as the sellers described, and probably as you haven`t seen the cars you cannot say that the one at ebay was better than mine, you shouldn`t talk about what you have not seen. There is a message from Chris, he saw the car in June this year at Uxbbridge car show .
Thanks

hi Jorge, thats a great offer!! I would sell it, and buy an aircooled, or another BIS, as you know, they are going up in price! Then get that resprayed.

i think you should take the money, you can tell the seller i think its the best condition BIS ive ever seen. (as it really is) the paintwork is amzing, much better than the factory finish spray job.

again that is a great offer, i would take it as long as youre making a profit and not losing out on what youve spent on it.

thanks for your email jorge

let me know how you get on.

regards

Chris

hey...why such a great debate?

we all love our cars, even still - classic cars are worth whatever the buyer offers to be honest. Who can put a price on enthusiasm?  :D

As i say Jorge if you can honestly get £2000 for a bis more power to you i say it sounds trully fantastic to me and yor car does look good.  as regards my ability to spot a mint car I have very high standards indeed btu would never personally dream of paying that much at present for one even one that has clearly been lavished with as much money and care as yours has and sadly i think the aircooled will always pull alot more money in than the BIS as it has and rightly so gained a reputation of being a kettle and once a car a tarred in the classsic car circles with brush its hard to see values increasing

Hi Nathan
You are right but since this gentleman came into the forum , he probably think he knows everything and others are a bunch of stupid people who don`t know anything about cars
That`s all I have to say and case closed.
Thanks
Jorge

lol nathan are you implying we shouldn't discuss why our little cars arent worth what we think should be worth?  its a forum after all and this is a big topic especailly when jorge is trying to sell his fine example of the marque
