I've been trying to fix an oil leak in my freshly imported Bis, with no skills and proper tools what so ever. Time has passed, and I got the engine out without losing any limbs and digits, lol.. a joy it wasn't for sure. And sure ebough, there is oil pooling in the bellhousing. Now I have a few questions: First, I happened to find out that there is way too much oil in the tank/sump (almost to the plug of the dipstick), Can this cause excess oil to land in the bellhousing, making it look as if it came from the camshaft? If the camshaft truly has leaked, can I replace the seal without taking the gearbox out and/or draining the oil from said gearbox? The teason I ask is because the engine is now perched up on some wood slats on my creeper and my back starts to hurt just at the thought of crouching under the car without it.
