Greetings from Nova Scotia, Canada!
« on: June 12, 2016, 01:07:14 PM »
Hi all!

My name is Kody, and I'm from just outside Mahone Bay in Nova Scotia, Canada. I've been a huge fan of the classic 500 and 126 for years now and fully intend to import one to Canada as a "weekend" car when I finally land a full-time job and get my own place (recent university grad). Both cars were never sold here (except some VERY early 500s in very small numbers), so it would be a unique ride to get people smiling and asking questions!

Joined here to talk 126s with other enthusiasts and maybe get a little help with the import when the time comes! :)

I'll probably be looking into getting an ELX as I would want some of the later features for Fall season use over here when it gets a bit chilly (it would be stored for the winter, of course!). An EL or FL would be OK too, but as long as it would have rear defrost, front demist, an unleaded head I would be happy....electronic ignition would be nice too, but it's not a requirement :P Color wouldn't matter, but I would prefer something bright like red or orange (preferably not a respray), as more noticeable = good in a small car in a large country!

It will probably be awhile until I actually can import my own, but I am slowly scrimping and saving a little for one and, until then, I will live vicariously through you folks! :D Until then, my Daily Driver is a poverty-spec (no A/C, no power windows, no power mirrors, no ABS, no Traction Control, no Cruise Control) 2009 Hyundai Accent hatchback, which you folks never got in the UK - so I will be used to the 126's lack of creature comforts! ;)

Cheers!

Welcome Kody and good luck with the 126 quest. Many years ago the Kiwis took Fiat 500s to the Antarctic and the 126 EL has a similar but upgraded engine so I am sure you will be ok . Good news is that you only have to put antifreeze in the screen washer bottle  :D

Thanks folks! :D

I've got -20C rated windscreen washer fluid, so I should be set! ;)

I'll have to make a thread in the next few days asking you opinions on what I may be looking at for costs if I were to try and import one from the UK, or if there is anybody here who deals in exporting them from Poland who could help me out! :)

Hi and welcome, i often go on Allegro (polish auction site) to check quantities and prices of the 126's and the trim spec and prices seem to go from one extreme to the other, and once they've been imported to uk the price seems to triple, there is a guy in america that imported one direct from PL , he's on youtube , try searching fiat 126 in america , he maybe able to give you valuable importing info
