Instrument Panel

I just replaced the instrument cluster in my 82 air cooled and some of the indicator lights aren't working.  I was just wondering if anyone had any experience tinkering with these.  Bulbs are good and the circuitry on the back of the speedometer is pretty simple.  Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions.  I'm not very electrically minded.

hi sam,i have had exactly the same problems with my 126.there was no tail lights on the dash board,i took the full speedo unit out.And found out that there was no power to the switches all the conectors were blue and fluffy.i took out each one sanded the connectors down with sand paper and put some conductive gel on each one.(you can also use wd40)this worked a treat and now everything works fine.oh and just remember to take each plug off individually and put it back on,otherwise you will end up with cables everywhere and will take you a while to sort out.hope this helps....................

seemed to be just the thing.  You wouldn't think that little bit of gunk on the terminals would make that much of a difference.  Thanks.
