Bis or 126p?
« on: September 09, 2015, 07:49:12 PM »
Hi guys! This is my first post and i need experienced thoughts!  ;D
My plan is to buy one of these brilliant little cars and commute to college...
What i need to know is... Which ones better? What are the differences? Asthetic and inner workings if thats possible!!  :o As i cant see many other than the bis has a hatchback and the engine is horizontal rather than vertical  :P
If anyone can help inform me that would be fantastic! Cheers!

Can't fault either if looked after well :). The bis is a little rarer in my eyes... somewhat because there were plenty of other offerings on the market in the 90's. The space in the back is incredible with the back seat down and the heating is nice :). An air cooled may be a little cold in the winter months but I wouldn't want to treat them to the salt on our roads too much anyway.

Air cooled, parts are plenty available... late 126p's built tend to be a little rusty as they were poorly sealed in the factory. I think an 88-92 model would be best... that or a well looked after or restored earlier model.

Vinyl seats in the classics and cloth in the more modern.

Welcome

Main difference, the Bis is water cooled and 126 is air cooled

Bis can be tempremental regarding the water cooling but if looked after correctly shouldnt be a problem

Water cooled or air cooled wouldnt be my main concern, a rot free body should be your number one priority although others may disagree

Also as said elsewhere on here the Bis will eventually be worth more as the numbers decline

Have a good look round on here there is a massive amount of information to be found
