For Sale, 1986 FSM White, 31k Miles, SORN,
« on: February 27, 2014, 07:02:33 PM »
I am losing the use of a lock-up thus have to sell my much loved 126 FSM which is in need of a little TLC and is ideal for a full restoration.

I am the second and forth owner due to divorce, at that time the car was in daily use.

It has been garaged for the last few years to try and slow the progress of the dreaded 'tin worm'.

When bought it had a full Fiat service history, had been kept garaged from new, and had been owned by one not so careful lady, hence has a few little knocks on the bumpers and bodywork, including an odd one on the roof  ::)

My daughter drove it whilst she was learning to drive, and for a short while afterward, I drove it on and off for a while afterward.

It has been very reliable, driving to Hayling Island, High Wycombe, Eastbourne, to name but a few, and 'tops out' at 73 mph  8)

It has had an exhaust valve changed and new head gasket kit fitted.

The exhaust has been updated, and the clutch replaced about 15k miles ago.

The car has been regularly serviced until garaged, so may need the oil flushing and replacing, the brakes and fluid are fine.

The head lining has been removed, it had sagged and come apart, and the rear shelf cover has been removed to fit a solid speaker shelf, which has also been removed.

The engine lid has rusted quite badly, I have a spare which may be included in the sale, the existing lid has black plastic vent covers fitted.

It has had a little welding done to one sill over the jacking point and inside the rear wheel arch.

Both sills could do with replacing, and perhaps some plating at the bottom of the front wings, I have spare sills and wings which may be included in the sale.

As usual the windscreen corners have rusted, though I don't think seriously, and could easily be repaired.

As far as I know the cross member is fine.

I have experimented with the suspension, cutting one rotation from the rear springs, and inverting one leave in the front spring, I have replacements which may be included in the sale.

The car will be fitted with at least 4 serviceable wheels and tyres, I have so many I need to sort through them, I will aim to include a spare with the same type of tyre fitted.

I do have two nearly new wheels that have hardly been used, these may be included in the sale.

I also have a number of other 126 parts, including a rear wing repair panel, a BIS engine with faulty bearing and oil seal but minus ancillaries, a BIS gearbox, windscreen, a couple of crates full of BIS parts.

If I find any more bits and bobs I'll either update this post, or create others.

I have no idea how much to ask for the car, if I get more than I paid for it I'll be happy, we paid £600 for it, and I paid another £200 after divorce, so overall £800.

I'd be dead chuffed with £1k and will throw in all the 'may include items' and other bits and bobs I no longer need.
