Morning from glasgow
« on: January 11, 2013, 08:34:48 AM »
Morning all, i've been a member for a while but lurking in the back round.

I have a 1971 fiat 500l that i have had for years, but this weekend i am clearing out the garage of spares and bits i have had over the years.

Just wondering where would be the best place to sell it.

A bit of info on my 500, well it's not standard...

Over the years it has snowballed a bit as it was going to be a cool usable classic, but it has now grown to the point where i have just finished putting a 4a-ge engine in the back and going to be trying to build and design my own suspension...

I will get some pictures up for everyone.

Cheers

Simon

Hi Simon and welcome to the Forum.

I just had to google what a 4a-ge engine was :$

Your car sounds like a monster. Have you got any photos of it? Would be interesting to see how you managed to do this conversion.
What sort of gearbox did you use?

Basically i have made the car mid engined and used the toyota gearbox, it's a straight lift from the donor MR2.

I have made a chassis that has been welded to the underside and sills to reinforce the car as well as to use as a basis for running the engine mounts.

I've never done anything like it before, a lot of people wont like it as it's such an iconic classic but from the outside i'm planning on keeping it styled like the 695ss.

If you have a look at the TAZ racing fiat 126 with that engine it's going to be along those lines.

As for an alloy sump yes i do have one which is attach to an engine so i will let you know!

You have just made me late for a meeting. I had a couple of moments so quickly checked out the build thread...............  :$ Oooops took me longer than I thought  :)

The 500 is coming on fantastic, should be great. Keep the thread posted.   keep up the good work.

Let me know about the sump, my sump needs changing as recently got rather damaged.
