1976 Fiat 126 restoration £300
« on: September 02, 2011, 10:56:58 PM »
For sale is my 1976 aircooled.
I started restoring it around April 2009, the link to the restoration work can be found here:

http://club126uk.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4747.0

This pretty much covers all the work up till now.

Good points:
  • drivers door and bonnet are painted.
  • windscreen and rear window surrounds are free of rust and painted, photos show repair.
  • Both doors are solid. Only very minor surface rust along the bottom which has been treated.
  • Original 600cc engine
  • very clean set of seats come with car
  • O/S inner and outer sills come with car
  • Matching beige seats, dash cover & carpet

Work remaining:
  • O/S Inner & outer sills
  • Welding on front panel
  • front inner arch repair
  • some outstanding floor welding
  • Door cards will need repair/replacing
  • brakes
  • engine rebuild
  • filler
  • respray

I'm sure there are things I have missed from both lists and will add as appropriate.
Main point to take into account is that the only difficult to replace parts you may need are the door cards.
This car needs some time spent on it which is sadly something I'm lacking these days, along with money!

I'm not happy about selling this, but I'm concerned that it will be sat in my drive getting worse until I can offord to do something about it, and that's not why I bought the car.
I'm looking for £400. Any less than that and It will be worth my while finding somewhere to stash it for a few years and wait to see what happens.

I'll leave it on here for 2 weeks before sending it to the wolves (ebay), but I would rather see it go to a club member.

I'm happy to supply photos or arrange viewings, or provide any further details.

Thanks

Michael

Lack of response has suggested my pricing was a little optimistic!
Difficult to detach how much time you have spent on something from it's re-sale value.
I won't be dropping the price any further though as it's getting very close to it's parts/scrap value.

I'll place a listing on Retro rides mid-week and then it will be onto ebay on the weekend if there is no interest.
I would rather sell it on whole to someone in the club, so give it some thought!!

Fingers crossed it will sell, because plan B is to strip it and sell the parts on, but ireally want to avoid that !!

Good luck with the sale, you might want to think about where it's listed in eBay to get the best response, it's not showing when you search for Fiat 126 under ''cars'' so might limit who get's to see it?

yeah, I was trying to dodge ebays motor fees as they take the biscuit enough with their pricing policy.
If I get no resposes then I might relist under the motor section
