92 Fiat Panda 1000 engine into a 126 air cooled, is it possible?
« on: December 23, 2013, 12:57:40 PM »
Hi All. I have an 81 126 that's been sitting in the shed now for a couple of years as I've tried to decide what to do with it. I could restore it to original as new condition as I have done with all the cars I restore. But for once I'd love to do something completely different.
I have limited funds to throw at it due to 2 other ongoing rebuilds. Which brings me to the question regarding the Panda engine. I have a 92 Panda which is a parts car and it has a good engine and this got me wondering if it's possible to fit it to the 126 and if so how big a job it would be. I don't want to modify the body to much around the engine bay area as I want to keep the back seats.
My thinking to is fitting the radiator into the spare wheel well and running the water pipes under or in through the car.
Biggest query at the moment though is it doable and can it be made fit to the 126 gearbox.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
