Starter Motor - needs re-conditioning
« on: November 19, 2010, 10:57:54 AM »
Guys,
When my fiat comes out of the garage, I will have a spare starter motor. It will need re-conditioning as it is knackered by all accounts, but I can sell it as I don't have a deposit paid on the new one.

Not sure I can be arsed with re-conditioning it myself, so if anyone wants to make me a sensible offer, around the £50 mark?, if not ill stick it on eBay.

Regards,
Tom

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't the price rather high for a dead starter motor?

Used from Poland fully working are only about £9 + postage

To be totally honest, I have absolutely no idea what they are worth. If they are not worth anything, then I will keep it and get it re-conditioned myself and keep it as a spare.  :D

The mechanic said it wasn't too bad either, probably just needs some brushes and the starting arm is totally fubared!

Now keeping it, and getting it re-conditioned as a spare.  :D

As I am learning rather quickly, you can never have enough spare parts.

I can get brand new starter motors for £70, so I'd keep it as. Spare.

i thought it was "something brothers" you did a few bits for me a while ago and i think you did a fantastic job in a bloody quick turnaround time and was reasonably priced to boot! by the way is it a white 126 you have as i used to see one parked outside years back but thought it was to do with the business next door?

£200 what a piss take!

Hobbs will get my motor reconditioned in the new year when I move back to Tunbridge Wells, so expect my call end of January!  [-/
