My First 126
« on: July 21, 2010, 12:30:21 PM »
Hi all

I've just bought my first ever fiat, a pale yellow, flower covered 126 BIS.

this is also the first time ive ever used a forum, so please bare with me..

I'm looking for a gearbox for mine cos at the moment i have no first gear.

I havent checked on here yet but can anyone confirm for me, that the brakes in the car are what i would describe as being slightly on the COMPLETELY poo side of things? are they all this bad or is mine just a one off? if theyre all this bad, what can be done to perk them up?

thanks for listening, give me a wave if you see me, i'm the 6'2" bearded guy in the flower powered BIS.

Welcome to here, you're pretty local to me so I'll give you wave if I see you :D
The brakes are drums all round but to be fair the car doesn't have a lot of power so is normally more than sufficient, might worth checking all the shoes are ok and that there is plenty of fluid in the reservoir :)

Hi & welcome to the forum.  [-/
Do you have reverse gear  ???
I still have a couple of sets of disc brake adaptor plates to do an easy front conversion if you want to go that way. I have written loads on this if you do a search on the forum ;D

Hi

I just bought my first 126 last Sunday so I totally understand re the brakes! Just about rolled out in front of a bus as didn't realise how much pressure you had to exert to stop!  Am totally used to mine now and just need to remember to extend braking distance accordingly!

I've put mine into the garage this morning to have a wee health check done as I know zero about cars - fingers crossed everything is ok as I am totally in love with my little car.

Would be great to see a picture of you and your car given you're over 6 ft and drive a flowery 126!!  Amazing.
