Cleaning/polishing Cyl Head
« on: April 11, 2010, 10:17:22 PM »
Hi Guys,
Am making good progress with the 650 build.
Have stripped cylinder head and have got myself a rotary multi tool to help with de carbonising/polishing cylinder head.
Can anyone recommend what i should i use to get the best results?
Many thanks in advance.

I did not clean a cylinder head yet but carburators. And for them I first use break-cleaner and then I use brass brushes. For the carbs I use soft ones, probably you can take harder brushes for the cylinder head outside-cleaning...

look at the photo: before and after polishing...  :)

If you are using a small high speed piece of kit then you want to use the heads / bits that will not erode the aluminium casting otherwise you will do more harm than good. So soft wire brushes and cloth / felt tips are your best bet  [-/
