Wanted quarter light windows

Hi, both of my side quarter light glasses have come unbonded(one smashed) on my 1973 126

I have tried to re-glue one of them, but fell off after a day
I've been told I should get a pair from a later BIS,

Would anyone have a pair ?

Hello, I think I have a couple will have to check, a bit rusted on the metal.  To stick the metal to glass there is only one theing to use and it does work!  Epoxy Resin you can get it in wilkinson or B&Q two tubes that you mix and it sticks pretty much anything,  Don't tell me you were using super glue?  the only thing superglue is good for is sticking your fingers together!

Yes I tried Super Glue!!!, it's made by Wurth and thought that might do the job 

maybe I will try the epoxy on the one surviving glass

Ha Ha Ha Ha haaaaaa  Oh my god! super glue LOL live and learn m8 anything that came to fame in the 70's is pretty much usless.  you'll be telling me that you have a hostess trolly and a fondu set next, mind you I can't talk I've got a blob lamp and a stylaphone. LOL

Apologies that this is very off the topic, but we borrowed a hostess trolley from my mother in law on Christmas Day when there were a lot of people, and although I thought it was a joke, it was actually really usefull!

I shall fit a tow bar and tow a hostess trolley at all times. I assume one could use such a trolley as a substitute 'Snap on tools' trolley, or to carry a spare head gasket for Bis drivers.

I shall bring my Fondue set along to Billing this Summer and we can use it while we listen to Markie and his stylaphone in concert.

i wouldnt bother with using glue just buy the thin double sided sticky foam rubber from any good kit car suppliers as that is what was originally used its good as it soaks up any vibration.

you mean the pads used to re-stick rear view mirrors, I've got a box of those at work

Have you actually ever tried sticking a small area of metal to to glass using a stcky pad? no disrespect but you might as well use a pritt stick! I suppose it depends on ther type of quaterlight hindge you have, if its the later one that grips the glass then a sticky pad may work but if it's the earlyer version that sticks to the exterior of the glass only then believe me the only way to attach this successfully is by using Epoxy resin, it actually forms a bond that is stronger than the parts you are sticking together, the closest thing you can get to welding that is not actually welding.  I don't mean to bang on about it but it's what you'll end up using when all the other things you try fail.

so when ive done it and i used pads i must ve got it wrong then if it stayed on?
 must be the exception that prooves the rule? lol
as for glue dont start me off as thats my job or was!! ask dom...lol

i'd always go for glue, 2-pack epoxy as mentioned above, or alternatively automotive windscreen bond which is designed specifically to stick glass! the latter should come with a purpose-intended primer too. A little surface keying is never a bad idea and a good degreasing too. The problem with foam pads is that it is possible for water/algai slime etc to penetrate the join and cause the adhesive to unstick...

 Not at all it will stick absolutley anything to your fingers! and what about eyelids & lips i've had great success with these too
