Look what came out my gearbox!!!
« on: August 19, 2006, 01:56:39 PM »
after taking my engine out, ive drained the gearbox oil, and look what came out!!! its a tooth about an inch long, of some sort of gear selector? Must be the reason why 1st gear isnt working, im surprised it didnt damage the rest of the box.

im still trying to establish if its an oil seal in the gearbox (which is most likely) or if its the main bearing seal (behind flywheel) as the clutch and flywheel are greasey.

ah chris, you proved me wrong, never mind! hard to give diagnosis fron 200 miles!................it is most likely the gearbox seal that has gone tho...........all the 126's in jersey have had them go (5)......

well you got the leaking seal right, but im still trying to work out if its the gearbox seal or maion engine bearing seal on the flywheel.  :???: im going to take the clutch off and flywheel to check.

but going by the state of the gbox i dont think its the engine oil seal.

on the aircooled there is a seal on the input shaft of the box, they do go and its always wise to change them when the box is off.
