Front Disk brake upgrade warning
« on: December 27, 2016, 11:39:48 PM »
Hey everyone,

I am currently in the process of upgrading the brakes on my car to disks and ran into a lot of trouble. Perhaps i can save you all some...

I already did the coilover conversion on my can prior to putting my new disks on. The independent suspension kit was from Ricambio and its the one where the A arms are more rounded as opposed to being like a Capital A. I then purchased a full brake kit off ebay which contains brembo disks, Bosch calipers and adaptor plates. If you decide to use this combination of parts you will find that the calipers hit the A arms when you try to turn the wheels. If you were to run the leaf spring in the front i doubt this would be an issue but if you run the same parts that i have then you are in for some trouble.

If anyone would like to see pictures and progress on this feel free to check out my build page at:

I now have to remake my A arms and make some new adapter plates to sit the calipers in the right position. Quite annoying considering the amount of money you pay for these items.

Anyway, i hope this helps some of you considering the swap.

And just as a side item, i have some fiat X/19 wheels that are 13 x 5 and they fit perfectly over the new front brakes. They don't however fit over the fiat 500 Abarth rear disk brake upgrade though which is annoying.
