Bis copper head gasket
« on: March 18, 2015, 07:25:18 AM »
Hi guys just a query I have about head gasket thickness. I'm rebuilding yet another engine for my BIS and have aquired a solid copper head gasket. It's 0.5 mm thick so would this be ok or is it too thin? It maybe worth mentioning that I'm fitting a brand new head and although it looks pretty good I've been told that I should get it skimmed anyway. What do you all think?

Think I may have a blown gasket, just wondering how you got on with the copper gasket? Do you tighten it the same torque?

No I didn't use it. In the end I went for a quality standard one as I thought maybe it was too thin. I still have the gasket somewhere as i thought I may use it one day

When I got my Bis one of the valves was wedged open, some one had dropped an 8mm nut into the inlet manifold and it still ran on one pot, without the valve and piston kissing eachother
