Well, this is how the original subject was started soooo many years ago, where I fitted a new roof with metal sunroof, shaved the door handles, fitted disc brakes to the front, lowered by 60mm all round and filled in the square holes around the body for the plastic trim. At that time I was advised by my MOT station the shaved doors would not pass an MOT as there was no way of opening the doors from the outside in an emergency. Therefore I have been on the lookout for a discreet method of opening the door from the outside, looked at fitting flush push buttons sculpting the edge of the door and ALFA 156 rear door handles.  I think I have found the solution I have bought two door handles from a FIAT Barchetta. I found them on ebay Italy, but they are actually coming from Germany and should be here in a day or two, they are still attached to a section of the door skin so should be reasonable easy to weld in. I will post some photos when they arrive.

The handles finally arrived, I think they look the part, can't wait to fit them.

Hi, I intend to paint the whole handle the same colour as thr car. I will machine the button to be flush with the door skin, lead load the groove and hopefully it will merge into the door.

How do these handles work?
I once seen a classic hot rod with mirrors as handles, Imo that's a super cool idea.

I've taken a couple of photos that should show how they work, butI will try to explain, you press in the button this pushes the silver lever out enough to grab a hold of you then just pull and this operates the release mechanism. To operate the release mechanism I will have to fabricate a connecting rod or wire, this should be straightforward. Will try and post photos tomorrow, my home computer has just given up the ghost.

Saturday was a very lazy day, sun shining and warm, took some time off from building the shower room in the loft conversion anyway looked out some of my recent purchases to see how they might fit.  I trialled my ne wide body kit and the barchetta door handles on my spares car. see attached

The front wide body wings do not fit and will require serious cutting and shunting to fit.
