A question about timing??
« on: June 01, 2015, 06:20:12 PM »
Had an issue on a test run today. I hadn't quite set the points up correctly so the car ran but when it got warm it cut out at a junction and wouldn't start. I twisted the dizzy some and got it going again. when I got it home I got a strobe on it and found it was well out so my question is do you set the pulley mark to 10 degrees BTDC WITHOUT the vacuum advance attached or with it?

I did it without it attached as it was mentioned on here somewhere but when you reattach the vacuum the mark goes to around 15 or 20 degrees BTDC

Yes, you set it without bud. i had timing issues with mine so have been looking into it and checking.

Also meant to be set at 750-800 rpm.
