bis fueling issue
« on: July 13, 2014, 06:03:58 PM »
Got the bis started for the first time in since I bought it.  But only by disconnecting the electric fuel pump. When I plug it back in it kills the engine and then sounds like the battery is dead when trying to restart. Engine runs fine when it's not connected and dies off when out of fuel !!!! Pump is a facet but no signs of what psi . Any ideas please

If i'm understanding right it might be flooding the engine when you have the pump connected. is your fuel pump a diaphram type or another type of pump.

I've just noticed that the pump slows down after a bit but it keeps going and over flows the carb and pours out the ports and over the top. I'm not to sure how can you tell, I've never used after market pumps.  It's square shaped with and inlet and outlet with a plus and minus cables.

another thing it could be is the float in the carb might have a hole in it (i had this issue on both my aircooled 126s, there is no reason why the bis can't do the same thing)

Well the whole time it was the float. Car runs sweet now.  Just can't seem to shift the sticky throttle problem!!! Replaced the cable, cleaned up the carb linkages and the throttle pedal rod and still it keeps sticking. Any ideas????

The spring on the throttle not up to the job? Do you have the throttle cable held by a bracket? I was missing the bracket on mine and had to fabricate something with some steel wire to hold the outer cable back.

Nooooo the float had a whole and filled with fuel so wouldn't shut off when full causing it to over fill onto the exhaust. It's got the bracket just before the carb where it clips, then the other 2 just before it runs under the car.

Glad you sorted the float out. is it the carb sticking or between the pedal to the carb?

From throttle to the carb. The carb springs back perfectly, throttle pedal bar is all greased and nice and free. And it's got a new cable. So....... little confused

I doubt its posible you having the same issue, but my aircooled 126's throttle didn't retern properly and i found out that a piece of metal (a old zip, strange i know) got stuck under the lever in the airduct on the other end of the throttle bar. worth a look you may have accidentely missed it when you were changing the cable (its all i can think of).
