BANG!
« on: January 15, 2014, 11:57:27 AM »
Sadly, yesterday morning I had someone run into the back of me and my Bis on my way to work.  :(

Totally gutted as they pushed in the rear panel, smashed the lights (creasing the metal) and creased the hatchback door.
I've got a garage waiting to take it away to fix/assess but I'm terrified the insurance might want to right it off.

The damage isn't too bad but I realise they might have problems getting hold of panels.
(I'll try and post some pics).

Just wondering what my options are as I'd hate to see it go as it took me a long time to find my Baby.

I'm sure the panels you will need are available either here in the UK e.g. through Ricambio or through cars that are being broken.  I've also seen BIS panels regularly on eBay Italy.  The BIS owners on here should also be able to point you in the right direction.

Don't give up, Scotty, we need you back on the 126 road for summer!

I live in hope  :$

I've attached a pic that I quickly took when it happened.
Doesn't look as bad on it as it is but I'm still gutted looking at it.

Stupid but I can't bring myself to opening the boot.

Ooooh, crap! :( My condoleances.

Anyway, don't worry, mate. There's nothing that can't be fixed here. As it seems, the corner panels are intact. The rear lights are straightforward to change, and the crossmember also seems saveable.
Is it still easy to open/close the tailgate, or is it sticky? Because if it is, the rear quarter panels are deformed a few millimeters.

They still have some recycled spares at NVRC, as far as I see.

Classic, not plastic :)

Well, just heard back from the garage that have my baby and the thing they're struggling on is the rear, passenger side light.

Thanks to Captain Tracteur, that link NVRC shows they have one.  :yahoo:

Before I send on the link to the garage, does anyone know where I could get a new one from?

Unlucky mate but I am sure you will be back on the road . I have a pair of clear rear lenses here which would need the coloured bulbs. I think they came from a late polish 126 . They are slightly smaller than the ones on my '81 Aircooled and do not have the middle screw, just one top & bottom.
