Help a new BIS owner !!!!!!!
« on: March 02, 2006, 10:47:46 AM »

 :)  Hi, I'm a new owner of a lovely Fiat 126 BIS,
But I can't find all the info I need about it, like how (and if) I can adjust the brakes to reduce the travel in the brake pedal, and what are the recommended tyre pressures???
Also, did Haynes produce a manual for the BIS model?????

I would really appreciate all the help and the tips you can give me  :P

Hi and welcome to the forum! :D

From the owners' handbook:
Tyre pressures in bar (psi)
Front tyres 1.5 (21.8) for medium load 1.7 (24.7) fully laden
Rear tyres 2.0 (29.0) for medium load 2.5 (36.2) fully laden

Haynes never made a manual for the BIS only the air cooled model, but if you join the club you can get a BIS workshop manual on CD.  (There is also a Polish site which has manuals online.)
(gotta love the wee buggers)

Welcome to the forum!

Like gnash says Haynes never made a manual for the Bis model, but did make a small information file for the Bis model.

It's worth getting a Haynes manual for the aircooled version, ebay is the best source also get the latest version. Many of the components (except engine) are similar and should help you with many of the jobs.

Also if you do join the club you will get the BIS workshop CD free.

hi vicky welcome to the club, like all new BIS owners i recommend, rewnewing the thermostat ASAP, and renewing the coolant, (making sure  its a good quality antifreeze with corrosion inihbitor), this is paramount, if you want future trouble free motoring.

congratulations on buying a 126 bis!

happy 126ing!

regards

Hi Vicky, welcome. If you pull the drums off the adjuster's are built into the shoe's(big silver round thingy's) if youmove the shoe's outwatd with a screwdriver you will see the shoe's move and the adjuster's stay.Replace the brake fluid also, bleed the brake's.
