FIAT 126 P 1983 ( 600cc)
« on: June 13, 2012, 09:32:09 AM »
Can someone help me to advise best place to buy either new or old pistons and piston rings for the above car, along with the two vented single cylinder casings and one cylinder top casing.

I have a good friend in Cuba who cannot get bits for this car and would like to purchase these for him. All the information I have is as follows:

Nos Motor 8911694
Chassis Number 1025562
Number on engine FSM126(al) 0768911694
Chassis Plate 246 1983 plus 08315815

Can anybody help me please ?

Hi Eddie , I think that you may need to confirm the engine size / capacity as the older 126 engines were 594ccs and after 1977 they were 652ccs. By vented casings I read that as the cast iron cylinder barrels an by top casing I guess would be an aluminium cylinder head.

Rusy Uncle
I have checked with my friend you are right it is 652cc for the 1983 model. Yes they are cast iron cylinder casings and a top aluminium cylinder head.

Do you know where I can get the right size two pistons, 6 piston rings for both cyliders, two cast iron cylider casings, and the top aluminium cylider head at the lowest cost.

Thank you for your help it is much appreciated.

If you look at the Top sites section you can see the 126fan guys who are selling new barrels & pistons for 189 euros.  A new cylinder head is likely to be a far more expensive item. If your friend could communicate directly to say exactly what the prioblems are it may be easier to help.

Rusty
I am going to Cuba 23rd August 2012 to see my friend, I believe the pistons are worn along with piston rings. I will speak to him take quotes, pictures, specs for all the parts along with costs and ask him exact problem and come back to you if I may. I can then order exact parts when I return to Cuba at Christmas 2012.

Your help and advice is much appreciated, I may e-mail you from Cuba when I am there if I get any more difficult questions or problems.

Regards
Eddie

I got my pistons and rings from Mr. Fiat, out of Atlanta, Georgia a few weeks ago. They don't have much for 126's, but enough to keep mine running for another day :)

If you got a 652cc, then this should be what you're looking for.

And keep in mind, America doesn't ship to Cuba. For some reason, we still don't like them...
I didn't do it!  ...unless it was good...  ...even then it's still debatable...
