Differential sealant
« on: May 25, 2012, 06:12:55 AM »
Hi guys,

What do you guys use for sealing differential halves?
Would oil resistant hi-temp RTV do the job?
What is the best way to use it to reduce the chances of leaks?

Thanks in advance.

PS..
Its been very quiet on here the last week... what's everyone up too?  ;D

Use the RTV. I usually apply a continuous bead all the way around the surface and let it sit for about 5-7 mins, then join the two toghether. Put my box toghether this way about four months ago and no leaks in all the sealed areas. The driveshafts though are a different story when it comes to leaks but thats mainly because I put 2.5 litres of oil in it.
