Fiat Pandora/Amigo/900e/Sleeping Giant etc.
« on: May 16, 2010, 06:46:05 PM »
Hi, I know it might be a long shot but...
I'd really love a camper and have seen a couple of these around and have totally fallen in love with them.
Does anyone have one or know of one that might be up for sale?
Possible part-ex for totally solid, lowered 1983 air-cooled 126 w/ X19 alloys, genuine 14000 miles on the clock.
Fingers crossed.
Si.

I am pretty sure that the semi derelict one is still there in Watford . Looks rough but the price is good at £150 with spare engine I am told  [-/

Hi Rusty, I was going to come see that with you when we get together about the doors :)

My car's sick right now so I'm a bit wheels-less :(
'84 aircooled 126 & 500F still in kit form

Big thanks to Stuey for pointing me in the right direction, I'm now the proud owner (well, nearly) of the blue Amigo advertised on Retro Rides.
Booked my coach ticket from Brighton to Whitley bay to collect it tomorrow, which takes 10 hours!!!
Not looking forward to my full day of National Express hell, but it'll be worth it though.
Can't wait for the journey back, may even camp over somewhere exotic like Birmingham!
Does anyone else on here have a 900t or 900e? Looking to get as much info about them as I can.
Are they a pain in the bum to whack with the lowering stick or if they are fairly straightforward like a 126?
I've trawled the internet and can't seem to find much written about them at all.
Does anyone have a workshop manual or a link to one?
I've read that you can put an 850 sport engine straight in to give it a bit more power but that's about it.
Maybe something to think about in the future.
Anyone know of any scrappers, it's missing a bunk from the elevating roof apparently and I'd like to keep a look out for some spares.
Can't wait for camping trips this summer,
I'll post some photos when she's home.
Cheers.

That is good news! I like those alloys fitted to it. Hope you have a good journey back. It definitely sounds eventful.
 Good luck [-/

Hi,

I owned an Amigo years ago.  Braked like a one legged wombat. Never could get them quite right.  Seriously cute van though, and I got approaching 40 mpg.  Mine had the original cartridge radio which worked fine and was always a cute talking point. Enjoy it.

I had one way back when & also struggled with the brakes until I learnt the secret of bleeding them  ::)
The key thing was to pump the brakes a couple of times , open bleed nipple , pump then let the pedal fly back & close nipple.  [-/
It is the "pedal fly back" bit that seemed to make all the difference and I have used this on other cars since then.

You do not see any of the 900e/900T around now. I think it is rarer than a 126. Seriously cute van.
