Mountney steering wheel/boss question
« on: February 24, 2009, 10:55:25 PM »

Hi all, I want a mountney classic mini -style steering wheel for my 91 bis, is there a boss that actually fits these types of wheels (as opposed to the mountney m-range type smaller boss's) I understand mountney did one but has since been discontinued & aren't available anywhere, those e-bay boss kits don't look like they'll fit either (although not sure) any ideas? I'd rather not mess about relocating horns & things.

Ps If anybody has a spare mountney boss let me know.

Thanks.

Amazingly I've managed to get hold of the very last one in stock from Mountney, I've now officially discontinued the line!
Sorry if anybody else was after one too.  ;)

Well after being all happy & smug the boss kit arrived & does'nt fit, even though it's a mountney classic & is listed as fitting a fiat 126.   :( The splines on the boss are to big to fit the finer splines on my 91 BIS hub.
I'm now left with a boss that does'nt fit & a hastily bought mountney leather wheel (should have known better)
So, the original question remains, how on earth do I fit a mountney classic steering wheel to a BIS?
Other BIS owners, what boss kit do you have on your car if you've got an aftermarket steering wheel? I've trawled past posts
but I'm still none the wiser. I understand I may have to buy a smaller momo style boss kit (& subsequent steering wheel to fit) which makes of these definetly fit the BIS?

Help much appreciated. :)

Dave.

i do believe that the cinquecento has the same sized splines , i suggest you go to the nearest scrappy and take off a steering wheel and have a butchers , it wont cost anything that way. there are actually three different sized splines on the 126 ive had them all at one point and have a nice collection of old steering wheels lol.

Yeah, good idea, my girlfriend has a cinquecento luckily so I can take a look without visiting the scrappy.
I think everybody on here who's fitted aftermarket wheels has run into similar problems, problem is there's no one definitive answer, what with all the different model years & boss/wheel combinations, trial & error I guess.

Thanks for your help  [-/

Dave.

I have a cinq sporting steering wheel on my 92 bis, it's a direct fit.

It came off my Cinq which now has a strada abarth wheel on it, but the strada boss didn't fit so I bought one from demon tweeks, it's an OMP boss and I think most of those aftermarket steering wheels have the same pattern with 6 bolts.
