How to ID Engine Capacity
« on: August 18, 2017, 08:04:51 PM »

Is it possible to identify from an engine number or some other external detail if the engine from my air cooled 126 is a 600 or 650?

http://www.linearossa.de/typen_en.htm

126A.000 = 600 (594)
126A1.000 = 650 (652)
126A2.000 = 700 (703) BIS

I'm not sure what the later Polish aircooled models are (whether or not they keep 126A1.000)

Take a look at the head. It sometimes has molded the cc as shown on the picture.

If it is older than 1977 will be 600cc and from 1979 only 650.

Thanks SO much for raising this query, Mike - I've been wondering myself about this very issue for some weeks now, thinking of pouring oil in through the spark plug hole, trying to measure how much spills out when turning the engine over, and other messy and unwieldy procedures !

I have four a/c engines around the place at present, and at one time I was fairly certain I knew what's what. But of course, the months passed, and then I realised I had no idea! So again, many thanks  ;D
