Is this a common issue? the bis i picked up this weekend has this same vibration issue and i know its had the engine out in the past. Is it an easy thing to check the flywheel position? has anyone got any pictures that could help me reset the flywheel. Its my first fiat 126 please be gentle with me

Ive also done the classic flywheel thing, then removed it all again engaged brain and corrected it, also you get a drone if the rear engine mount is too tight, it stops the spring absorbing the rattle and transfers it to the body, one to check, good luck, it is worth it when there sorted

ok engine is out, its on my garage, what does the TDC mark look like? and should it be pointing at the timing mark/teeth or towards the top of the engine?

If i put the mark from the front pulley on what i think is TDC (please correct me if im wrong) the flywheel holes arn't the fully up position matching the pistons. Im again assuming all the holes will be at the end where the piston is and up at TDC. Im just double checking as i don't want to put it back in the bay to find ive done it wrong though to me it looks to be in the wrong place on my car?

The best way to make sure your flywheel is on the right way is to have it lined up so that the four holes are exactly at opersite ends to the big weight on the crank shaft - so when the pistons are at tdc the four holes should be at the cylinder head end. Also if you look at the flywheel you'll see a dot inprinted in it. That should be at the cylinder head end as well.

The front pulley mark is at 10' BTDC - 2 notches to the right is TDC

Can't really tell if the flywheel is in the correct position as the photo does not show the the top of the engine, do you have a photo of the flywheel and head looking straight on?

I will get fresh pictures up soon. But it was wrong from what i can tell. The top/cylinder head would be on the left of my flywheel picture.
I have now put the pistons at tdc, the front pulley mark lines up with the strobe teeth. I then removed the flywheel and put it so the 4 holes are closest to the cylinder head. Hopefully that is it and the crazy vibration is sorted.

Thanks for the help everyone, really appreciate it. Very surprised how easy it was to get the whole lot out too. Tomorrow mornings job is a refit of the engine.
