Restoration
« on: June 16, 2016, 09:20:54 PM »
Cant believe its been so long, the trusty Bis has been sat waiting for some love for 3yrs, she was never a looker when I bought her for £265 but I got 27,000 miles out of her, Ive cut out the dodgy Halfords sunroof and replaced the missing roof section, new front panel and wings not bis ones! modification required to accommodate the bumper mounts, new scuttle and repeaters, the scuttle was off an aircooled LHD and lacked the vents with the wiper holes in the wrong places, replaced most of the dash, the sills and am on with the floorpans. I've had to remake the A posts as upon removing the front screen it was clear the roof and body were no longer connected. ive made the floorpans in 2 parts complete with the original pressings jointed above the spars so that no joint is seen from underneath, I was going to leave it at that but then noticed the seat rails were sagging and the seatbelt anchor points were a definite MOT fail, ive swept most of the original car up into a dustpan, the wiring loom is kaput, everything still works ish but the copper is badly oxidised (black), going to rip this out and make a new one.  I'm three week into the project now but I will get there
