Hi Chris,
I unscrewed the main jet nozzle from the bowl, cleaned it out. I set the float height and the engine runs fine now, however I'm still getting a small amount of fuel leaking into the plastic base (directly below the carb). Looks like it's coming through the gasket between the carb cover and main part of the carb.
Do you have any suggestions about how to stop that leak?

Yes, it was actually my ignition switch that was faulty (plastic brittle, fell apart during disassembly!). Had to buy a new ignition switch & low/full beam working now
