Title: What's this pipe for?
Post by: Xylaquin on June 11, 2015, 05:26:14 PM
This pipe connects to one of the exhaust pipes near the valve rocker, or should connect- ha, this one has come loose.

But what does it do and where does it go? It seems to head in the direction of the side vent.

That's the pre- heating hose.
It should connect from the exhaust to the air box.

Bambino, you're thinking of the other side of the junction. The heating hose connecting the airbox and the exhaust is missing altogether! But the pipe I took a picture of also connects at the same part of the exhaust and heads up somewhere.

I removed the side vent and peered in... the pipe seems to go into the rear of the chassis... I have no idea where to or why.. but I reconnected it.

The hose in your picture is definately a preheating hose.

With your (single stub pipe) exhaust you only need the one hose, and its been fitted it the wrong place on your car.

Remove it and reattach it from the exhaust to the airbox.  :thumbup

Thinking about ordering a hose from Axel, but I still don't know where it's meant to route to on the other side.
According to this excerpt from the workshop manual it just aims towards the dizzy, but I'm guessing that's just the abstractness of the diagram; as mentioned above mine seems to head up into the body.
