Hi Everyone,
I live in Wroclaw and have a 1999 Maluch (last year of manufacture I believe)... as I am totally car ignorant I as too scared to get an older one, but everyone thinks I am insane anyway! Bright red, beautiful (the car, not me) and only 14,000 km (owned by a babcia and kept in the garage for years). I don't have the first clue about mechanics or fixing cars but am about to start a world tour (of Poland) and need some advice. I already got the cigarette lighter re-installed - there was an alarm blocking it - from the days when someone might have wanted to steal a 126  :) so I can use gps, but now I need to change the stereo and speakers as they are really crappy (and I chucked out all my cassettes ages ago). So basically my question is - can I just go into a shop and buy pretty much any stereo and speakers or are there 'different size' issues? Would appreciate an answer as soon as anyone can because I want it fitted this week so I can listen to 80's nonsense all the way to a beer festival in the Czech Republic on Saturday  :)

Hey, I actually have the same car as you!  For the speakers, pretty much any car speakers will work (I used pioneer) just make sure you dont buy ones too big.  For the radio, on most new cars there is a plug that plugs straight in, but because the 126 is not prewired, just ignore the plug on the radio.  To power it, you have to take power from the cigaretter lighting wiring and individually connect it to the 3 wires on the back of the radio. I used wiring clips because it was easier than soldering.  Bear in mind that you will ignore some of the wires because its probably only 1 speaker to be installled. Hope this helps!  I would recommend looking on google for a wiring diagram.

Thanks Laners,
I went to a shop and bought the things I need. I actually had to go and pull the old stereo and speakers out and bring them to the guy because his book 'doesn't go back that far' ha ha... Don't worry I am not doing it myself - taking it to a place tomorrow where they will do it for me.
Then am off on my travels  :)

Ah, well since it already had a radio in it should be easy enough for them to install
