The hose (sleeve on pic) from the air box to exhaust has more or less fallen apart and doesnt connect to the exhaust, so isnt really drawing in hot air on winter setting. The hose on the other side of the exhaust is missing all together, any idea what the purpose of that piece is, looking at the pic top right and it straps to something by the looks of it.
Thanks.

This was missing from my car too so I replaced it. I think I got it from Axel Gerstl. Think they call it the "pre-heating" hose. I was suprised how expensive it was for a simple hose.

If you go on Axel Gerstl's website and just type the word "preheating" into the search box both the hoses come up.
I believe the shorter hose was to connect the two manifold stub pipes together so the air could flow over 2 manifold headers and pick up even more heat. Having said that though, nowadays you can't find a Bis exhaust that has the 2 stub pipes, one on each header. They all have just 1 now.
Some people have said that the whole thing is not really necessary in the UK because its not cold enough to need it, but after fitting the pipe to mine I noticed the engine warmed up noticibly faster and ran better in the cold weather so you can get the heating on earlier to demist windows etc.

Thanks for that, wow not cheap are they.. would be nice if engine heated up quicker. Maybe there is an alternative heatproof hose available somewhere :-

What about the hose that connects the airbox to the carb? Can't find that either.
-
Thats a tough one - because the engine moves about but the airbox position is fixed they are flexing constantly so eventually break up.
I couldn't find one anywhere so I ended up buying a generic silicone coolant hose with a 90 degree elbow.
If you take measurements of the diameters you need you can order one.
