Title: Bis engine cover
Post by: gammakeith on February 15, 2015, 09:46:37 AM
Hi all,

My Bis engine cover is rubbing on the top of the air box as there is a clear worn patch directly above the carb.  I suspect this is the source of at least one resonance noise so it would be good to sort it.  However, the air intake system and engine mounts etc are all stock (gearbox mounts are new) so I'm a bit baffled why this should be so.  Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,

Keith

Hi Keith how's the engine running? It could be rocking up and down on tick over

Hi Gadge,

Its running lovely at the moment though shaking around a little bit at tickover.  No banging at all when running around just the odd resonance patch.  Thing is I'm not sure if the damage on the cover was from when I was having gearbox/clutch problems?

I've just had another look and iits not directly above the carb as I thought.  Its worn above the bracket for the HT leads/hoses which is right at the edge of the "scalloped" region.  Its possible I managed to bend the bracket up a little by mistake when it was last off for taking the engine out.  It would bend down a little so hopefully that will be enough to stop it catching  ;D
